Tropical cocktails: The Pina Colada Recipe and the Origins of the Pina Colada.

Tropical Cocktails: Learn how to make a great Pina Colada Cocktail with Bacardi or Cruzan.

The Pina Colada cocktail was invented in 1954.

A coconut cream-flavored ice cream with pineapple and rum, our Pina Colada is a classic beachside indulgence. Creamy coconut and sweet pineapple flavor the ice cream, while hints of rum add a nice kick. We suggest pairing it with your favorite chocolate cookie or s'mores for a truly decadent dessert.

Translated the Pina Colada means "strained pineapple."
It was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and is one of the most popular tropical rum drinks.
It uses both coconut cream and heavy cream. For the rums give Bacardi or Cruzan rums a try.
